[ARCHIVED] Kenton County Government Center and Independence Courthouse Closed to the Public.

To help ensure the safety of our employees and the public with who we have face to face interaction, the Kenton County Sheriff’s Office (1840 Simon Kenton Way, Covington, KY) and at the Independence Courthouse (5272 Madison Pike, Independence, KY) will be closed to the public. 

This measure is in response to concerns over the ever developing situation COVID-19, Coronavirus.

The Kenton County Sheriff’s Office has introduced a secured DROP BOX at the Kenton County Government Center in Covington (1840 Simon Kenton Way). The marked box stands to the left of the entrance doors. Although the secured box is monitored by video 24 hours a day, the Kenton County Sheriff’s Office cannot be responsible for CASH put into the DROP BOX. Items should be in a sealed envelope marked to the office’s attention. Please include a contact telephone number in case the office has questions.

PROPERTY OR TANGIBLE TAX BILLS

PROPERTY AND TANGIBLE TAX DUE DATE HAS BEEN EXTENDED BY 30 DAYS.
To pay 2019 property or tangible tax bills, please use the online website and pay via credit card. Checks may also be mailed for payment to Kenton County Sheriff, P.O Box 188070, Erlanger, KY 41018. Postmarks of May 15, 2020 will be honored for the due amount shown for the Penalty 2 amount.

Collections for 2019 Kenton County tax bills at every Heritage Bank branch location effective Tuesday, March 17th have been reopened. A COPY OF THE TAX BILL WILL NEED TO BE PRESENTED. Heritage branches will accept Penalty 2 due amount thru the end of business day May 15, 2020. 


VEHICLE INSPECTIONS IN COVINGTON

Starting Wednesday, April 22nd we will begin doing virtual vehicle inspections at our Covington location (1840 Simon Kenton Way). If the individual is not able to complete a virtual inspection we do have a secondary procedure. Contact the Sheriff’s Office by phone (859-392-1800) for more information.

AUTO DEALERSHIPS

Dealers should contact the Sheriff’s Office by phone (859-392-1800) during normal business hours for instructions on how to set up inspections.

SCREENING CALLS

Personnel in the ADMINISTRATIVE DIVISION will be taking telephone calls in order to take information, especially valid phone numbers and to pre-screen for virtual inspection options.


OTHER SERVICES

Other processes pertaining to court process paperwork, such as mental health pickups, or domestic service of process please call (859) 392-1800 during office scheduled hours. At this time the office is limiting person to person exchanges pertaining to Carry Concealed Deadly Weapons (CCDW) Licenses. Please call (859) 392-1800 during office scheduled hours for additional options. CCDW renewals, if possible, should be handled online.
